Shadow, from "current" Sonic timeline
Hedgehog. Ultimate Lifeform. DPS.
Age: t... twenty?? Being an immortal hedgehog makes it hard to guage.
Shadow is an experimental lifeform (hedgehog) (probably) created by a scientist named Gerald Robotnik, with some help from some underhand deals with Literal Outer Space Aliens who donated DNA in exchange for “we’ll come back and conquer Earth later ok bye”. Shadow spends most of his early life unaware of this, however, instead spending his time with his (adopted) (human) sister Maria. He loved her very much! He had no cares in the world!
And then the Government of United Nations (GUN for short) (I could not make this shit up) went “hey! Why the hell were you making deals with outer space aliens, anyway!?” and shut the whole project down. This involved going up to the space colony said project was stationed in and Murdering Everyone. Shadow and Maria did their best to escape, but got as far as the escape pods. Maria sacrificed herself to send Shadow down to Earth, and the last thing he saw before being launched was Maria getting shot. Hugely traumatizing! He’s fucked up!
Recovered on Earth by GUN, Shadow is locked away in stasis until 50 years later one Dr. Eggman who hoped to use Shadow as a super weapon to take over the world. Great news, Shadow was very eager for revenge, because his memory is very shitty now (either from the trauma or the stasis) and only remembers Maria dying. Thinking that he promised her revenge, he sets out to destroy the world, teaming up with Eggman and Rouge the bat. Eventually he gets his memories back and realizes what he actually promised Maria is to protect the world! Mind sufficiently changed, because all he cared about was Maria anyway, Shadow instead teams up with Sonic to save the Earth from Surprise Giant Monster, and sacrifices himself in the end.
Good news: he’s not dead! Bad news, the stasis fucked with his memories again, so when Rouge wakes him up, he doesn’t remember her! Nor does he remember Sonic! But he begrudgingly agrees to team up with Rouge and Omega (giant killer robot) in uhh whatever the hell Sonic Heroes is about. And Then He Goes Off On His Own To Contemplate His Life And Lack Of Memories. At this point his alien dad Black Doom contacts him and asks for help destroying the world, which Shadow plays along with to glean answers about his past, up until the point he remembers Maria, and what he promised her. He defeats Black Doom and saves the day.
Also he decides that no one is ever going to manipulate him, ever again!
From here (not canonically, but implied in the comics, and real in my heart) Shadow moves into an apartment with Rouge, who gets him a job, and! They live together! They’re family now! Shadow has found a family and he is moving on from the past and he’s healthy and well!! Also like he’s friends with Sonic or whatever.
I haven’t yet decided if he’s pre- or post-Sonic 06, but that really will only change whether or not he knows Silver.

The team ends up somewhere that promptly drags up bad memories for all of them, but especially Kratos. Shadow helps him out of there. It goes... less well than Shadow would have hoped, but that's his fault for being impatient, isn't it? At least Kratos isn't too mad.⇢ Team M: Have a feelings jam about boundaries
Kratos brings up his own boundaries regarding being touched, and everyone else has a jam. Shadow's just kind of here, because unlike the rest of the team, he's neutral on the matter.⇢ like super mario backflipping up a flight of stairs

Kratos needs to decompress after getting separated from the team and going through Some Bullshit. Shadow just kind of chills as this happens, and lets Riku and Dave handle it (and judges Dave's horrible rap crimes).⇢ Shadow: retrieve your power limiters
Shadow's power limiters break. Shadow hates this, but thinks it's weird Riku's so worried about him. Thankfully Jade shows up to fix them but man is he a dick. At least it all turns out well in the end.⇢ coffee beans
