Chara, from an everyone lives AU, taken from a year or so after Undertale concluded.
Human, unfortunately. Loves knives. Okay at fighting. Physically 14. Mentally somewhere around there. Spent too much time dead and unaware for the chronological age of ???? to count.

But what’s certain is this: Chara’s home life was Kind Of Bad, and in general the village they grew up in was worse. They suffered a lot of ridicule and lack of belief re: Gender Things, in particular. Their treatment convinced them that all of humanity was horrible and nothing could be ever changed about that, and so they climbed Mount Ebott; rumored to be a place no one ever came back from.
Chara intended suicide. Chara got adopted by monsters instead.
Monsters were everything humans weren’t. Kind, accepting, Totally Understanding on the gender side of things. And so Chara spent a few years with the king and queen of the underground, and their son Asriel, who they were maybe crushing on big time, don’t worry about it!! It was nice? It was nice. But depression is a terrible beast to handle, and for a myriad of reasons Chara came to believe the underground would be better off without them in it, and plotted a second suicide, this one involving poison to fake a natural death, merging their soul with Asriel’s, and maybe getting revenge on their nasty village. It was all well and good other than Asriel couldn’t go through with it in the end, which resulted in him and Chara both dead.
Fast forward ??? amount of years. Chara wakes up because apparently they’re a ghost now, and their soul has been tied to some other human kid’s in some fancy fucky bodysharing scenario. Great! (not).
Chara hates this for a while but over the course of the journey, they befriend Frisk and learn to understand things from Frisk’s point of view. The power of friendship. The rewards of being nice. The determination to keep on living even when it’s hard, it’s so hard, you don’t want to do it anymore. They hold each other up, through the journey. They help each other reach the end. The Player helps, too, in their own way. They SAVE their friends. They SAVE the world. They break the barrier and they free monsterkind and
Through some means I don’t feel like coming up with lore for: Chara lives. So does Asriel.
And it’s from this Everyone Lives postgame (a year or so after Undertale concluded) that Chara gets yanked into DYWC. They are less than thrilled about this.

Chara wakes up in a world they don't recognize, hates it. Anna manages to completely throw them off guard by how much she respects their boundaries, which despite everything helps the panic attack. And also they resonate with Mithos?? Chara doesn't understand how blades work, exactly, but it's about as weird as bodysharing, and Chara can respect someone who hates humanity as much as they do. Apparently everyone here does?? Wow.⇢ there must be some finesse
Chara is onscreen for about two minutes watching Anna and Mithos bicker before Kratos shows up and bam family drama. Chara will stay out of that, thanks. Also hey, is this the moon?? Are they on the goddamn MOON?!⇢ Anna: Reunite with your husband (Mithos can come too)
Chara spends most of this fic offscreen as well, interacting politely with Kratos' teammates (SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG????) and otherwise just chilling. Riku being a replica is neat. Not much to bond over, though.⇢ you could say something poetic about the past clinging like a cape or you could just admit nightmares blow and trauma isn't fair
Dave has a nightmare, and overreacts. Chara spends as much of their time as they can Out Of This Mess, with Mithos happily distracting them as he can, because it hits a little closer to home than Chara wants to fucking deal with.⇢ the most disaster gay

Dave does some raps about tomatoes. Chara is astonished to discover neither Mithos nor Anna know what a tomato is. (Old YWKON joke I'll never drop.)⇢ different dialects
