Kairi. pulled from my big-ass KH fic FtPverse, sometime after the series ended.

Human. Party DPS. No keyblade, but knows a shitton of magic. Age 16.

HISTORY.

From my KH AU FtPverse; given the universe’s lack of a Riku until KH “canon”’s Riku Replica arrived, Kairi was born and raised on Destiny Islands and grew up with Sora as her closest friend. Because Aqua formally performed the Keyblade inheritance ritual with Sora, no one gave Kairi a Keyblade—she spends all of the series without one. Never losing her heart, either, she awkwardly bunks with Sora at Maleficent's, at least until Maleficent places a sleeping spell on her as with all the other princesses because Maleficent is a bitch. Of course Ansem is defeated and the worlds are restored, and Kairi is sent home with Namine, while Riku leaves to search for Sora.

Kairi and Namine spend three months together waiting for the boys to come home, while Kairi gets increasingly bitter—something which only intensifies when Namine also ends up leaving as well (though not exactly by Namine’s choice, and the liquid way time moves in Castle Oblivion doesn’t help matters). Furious at her friends for leaving her behind, Kairi takes it out on her father and on her remaining Destiny Island friends, until Selphie is the only one willing to talk to her. Well, Selphie and… Sora’s Shadow, who visits her on a whim, and together they accidentally bond, because! What do you know! It’s nice to have friends outside of Sora?? And, in Kairi’s case, it’s nice to have someone to talk to who doesn’t dismiss her outright.

Finally Namine gets Kairi off Destiny Islands. They decide to split up, Kairi choosing to travel with Tifa in hopes to track Sora down, which... doesn't exactly pan out. She doesn’t see Sora until they all gather to take down Organization 13, and gets rather distracted first by Sora’s Shadow revealing his true identity to her, and then by the whole Namine-got-reprogrammed thing, which would have gone Significantly Worse if she hadn’t intervened.

Kairi spends most of ATR trying to make sure her friends aren’t complete dumbasses and actually communicate with each other. Fics about healing only get you an arc if you, uh, have trauma to recover from— /I’m sorry Kairi /not really /it's good that you aren't traumatized??

Oh yeah. However during ATR she slowly works her way towards forgiving Sora's Shadow (Kano, btw. that's Kano) for betraying her like he did, and if not forgiveness at least reconciliation. They are good friends, after all. The time they spent together wasn't fake; and they understand things about each other that their other friends never will. (I won't go into a whole rant; if you really care you can read one here.) All this to say post ATR and pre-DYWC she and Kano have spent a lot of time getting closer. Moirails :)

Kairi spends the first half of this fic offscreen, having met up with Kano (thank god, a familiar face) and Fiora (not familiar, kind of weird given the bodysharing, also Kairi's super gay. Kairi would like someone to explain the god nonsense to her, but is otherwise pretty chill about this random adventure she had sprung upon her.
